About Ascend
The Ascend Math Solution harnesses the power of instructional technology to combine continuous math assessments, targeted instruction, prescriptive tutorials, and powerful reporting. The program integrates streaming video for direct instruction, interactive skill-building activities, and a learning management system to give schools the opportunity to extend math learning beyond traditional classroom instruction. Ascend is an affordable and effective solution for students in the third grade an above.
Ascend Helps Students Achieve More in Math
The Ascend Math Solution offers teachers a time-saving solution that delivers differentiated instruction in math, based on students’ individual skill gaps and strengths. “Powerful features, such as automated individual education plans, take students directly to the instruction and practice they need. Ascend alleviates the burden of developing extra instructional materials for students requiring math intervention,” said Kevin Briley, president of Summit Interactive.
Students receive direct instruction in math skills and concepts from a highly qualified master teacher, through streaming video with Ascend. The video instruction is ideal for times when a certified teacher is not available for one-to-one instruction. Students work through a standards-driven set of assessments to evaluate their mastery of skills they struggled with previously. By combining differentiated instruction and instantaneous reporting students have the opportunity to achieve better results, faster.
Rex Phelps, an instructor in Pinellas County, Florida who is currently using Ascend, stated, “Using the Ascend Math Solution, I am confident that each student receives targeted instruction based on their highly individual needs. Additionally, Ascend’s instructional approach has proven to be more effective than drill and practice programs in helping students grasp and master essential math concepts.”
Flexibility for Students and Schools
According to Kevin Briley, Ascend gives schools the opportunity to reach students in and beyond the classroom, as part of intervention programs, extra-curricular tutoring, in computer labs, and at home. Wherever students use the program, they will have the benefit of consistent, individualized instruction. Because the program can be delivered via a school server or the Internet, technology coordinators will find the program easy to implement and maintain. Ascend’s automated reporting saves instructors time by eliminating the need to compile time-consuming reports. Ascend does not require grading or scanning of papers so math instructors focus on instruction. This combination of reporting and automation strengthens communication among teachers, parents, and administrators.
